DUBAI DUTY FREE SHERGAR CUP 09 AUGUST

Individual victory - Team podium
PRESS RELEASE
Ascot (UK) — The 2025 Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup delivered a dramatic finish, with Team Asia securing victory by just one point ahead of Team Europe, after a fiercely contested day featuring twelve jockeys across four teams.
For Team Europe — Per-Anders Gråberg (captain), Delphine Santiago and Dario Di Tocco — Delphine Santiago produced two decisive performances:
– Victory in the Shergar Cup Classic (2,400m) on Tenability, trained by William Haggas, earning 15 points
– Third place in the Shergar Cup Sprint for trainer Clive Cox, adding 7 valuable points
These results kept Europe in contention for the overall title right up to the final race.
Team Asia, made up of Suraj Narredu (C), Ryusei Sakai and Mirai Iwata, ultimately claimed the 2025 trophy.
Team Great Britain & Ireland (Hollie Doyle, Joanna Mason, Robbie Dolan) and Team Rest of the World (Karis Teetan, Katie Davis, Hugh Bowman) also delivered several strong performances throughout the event.
Commenting on the day, Delphine Santiago emphasised the uniqueness of Ascot:
“Riding at Ascot is a unique experience: it’s a grand, nearly 2,800-metre circuit, very different from the racecourses we have in France. The atmosphere was incredible, and this day will remain a big moment.”
She added:
“Riding at Ascot against some of the world’s best jockeys is a privilege. The track is very different from France, and winning for William Haggas made the day unforgettable. The atmosphere was extraordinary — a truly incredible experience.”
Delphine Santiago’s performances confirm her status as one of Europe’s most reliable and competitive jockeys on the international stage.
